Leeds pub The Cross Keys has been recognised in a national award this week! The Cross Keys, in Holbeck Urban Village, on the edge of the city centre, has recently won the “Best Family Pub” in the Yorkshire and North East region of the Great British Pub Awards. These awards recognise the most outstanding pubs from across the country and this year are recognising excellence in 16 categories. The Best Family Pub category focuses on the efforts that The Cross Keys has made to accommodate families without dumbing down their menu for the kids. They are always coming up with bright ideas to keep the kids entertained such as their recent “Rubber Ducky Hunt” and forth-coming Adventure trail around the area.

General manager, Amie Giardino says “We are extremely proud of the fact that we never compromise our standards of food and drink and that includes our children’s menu. Food can still be appealing to children without consisting of nasty chicken nuggets. We welcome all customers, but we realise that there is a gap in the market for a quality dining establishment that still welcomes families and makes it easier to take the kids out for a nice lunch. To be recognised by the Great British Pub Awards is the ultimate compliment.”

The next stage of the competition takes The Cross Keys to London for the national finals. One of only 8 pubs in the country to be short-listed in the Best Family Pub category, they journey to The Hilton on Park Lane for the glitzy awards ceremony on the 9th September when the national champion will be announced. Leeds will have crossed fingers for The Cross Keys!
