RFG members are encouraged to enter prestigious awards
02/07/2009
The Regional Food Group for Yorkshire & Humber is encouraging food producing visionaries, farm or independent shops, cafes, tearooms and restaurants to enter its annual deliciouslyorkshire awards.
The awards, which celebrate the elite of the region’s food and drink industry, showcase fantastic produce and celebrate outstanding achievements. The deadline for entry is Friday 24 July and the winning people and products will be revealed at the prestigious deliciouslyorkshire annual awards dinner on Monday 9 November at Rudding Park, Harrogate.
Jonathan Knight, chief executive of the Regional Food Group, said: “It’s the fifth year that we’ve run the deliciouslyorkshire awards and we’re hoping to build even further on the success that members enjoyed last year.
“Not only does winning an award help to differentiate products to consumers but the ceremony itself generates invaluable PR and selling opportunities which help to further spread the word about members products and more importantly regional food.”
The awards are open to all members of the RFG and this year will see the introduction of a new award for Outstanding Newcomer, for which all entries from companies established in or after June 2007 will be automatically considered.
Other categories include:
- deliciouslyorkshire champion
- deliciouslyorkshire products of the year
- deliciouslyorkshire supreme product 2009-10
- deliciouslyorkshire breakfast member
- Best use of regional produce cafe/tea room
- Best use of regional produce restaurant/hotel/pub/inn
- Farm shop retailer of the year

Judging, will be by an independent panel comprising celebrity and award winning chefs and producers, chaired by renowned food writer and former chef Elaine Lemm and will take place in August.
