
Traditional Yorkshire Scones
The award-winning Black Swan Tearoom & Patisserie presents its traditional Yorkshire scones. Served with traditional accompaniments this is afternoon tea at its best.
Serves: 10 | Difficulty: Easy
Method
- Place all dry ingredients in a bowl.
- Rub in butter until it resembles breadcrumbs.
- Add eggs and enough milk to bind into soft dough.
- Roll out mixture and cut in rounds.
- Place on a baking tray and wash the top of scones with beaten egg.
- Bake in oven at 180c for 20 minutes.
Ingredients
- 500 g plain flour
- 100g caster sugar
- 125g butter
- 25g baking powder
- A handful of sultanas
- 3 eggs (1 for egg wash)
- A dash of milk

could you clarify please whether it’s 3 eggs plus one for egg wash, or 3 eggs - 2 in mix and one for wash?
